Registering an enduring power of attorney
Since the lasting powers of attorney came into law in 2007, it’s no longer possible to create new enduring powers of attorney. However, enduring powers of attorney that were executed before October 2007 are still valid and can be registered.
If you were made an attorney under an enduring power of attorney, and your loved one is no longer able to look after their affairs, then you must apply to register with the Office of the Public Guardian.
Ross Coates Solicitors provides a complete registration service for you. We offer a personal approach, and our fee is fixed and competitive.
Appointing a power of attorney
While you can now apply to appoint a power of attorney on the Government website, or by contacting the Office of the Public Guardian, the process can be complicated.
If you are not 100% sure about the process, you might make errors that will be difficult to correct later.
