Profile:

Educated at Wyggeston School in Leicester and St Catharine’s College Cambridge he trained at City Solicitors, Travers Smith qualifying in 1973.

Stephen has lived in Suffolk for over 25 years and is a season Ticket Holder at Ipswich Town FC. He has completed 9 full marathons including London, New York and Berlin and countless half marathons including the Great North Run in 2006 and 2007.

Stephen sings bass in local choirs, including 3 performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall. He has produced and presented a number of Radio Programs on BBC Radio Suffolk including presenting ‘Thought for the day’ since the station opened.

His autobiographical book ‘Big Dick Little Dick’ was published in 2006 and his CD ‘words and music’ was released in the same year. He was a trustee of East Suffolk Mind for 25 years and was a Community Service Chairman of Ipswich Round Table.

Stephen has 4 children, respectively training at considerable expense to be a Doctor, Solicitor, (against his advice) a Chartered Surveyor and with the youngest still at University. In a rather sad attempt to rekindle his 1960’s career as a failed pop star with the blues band ‘Smokestack’ he is currently having guitar lessons.

He reached the pinnacle of his career in 2009 when he appeared as a skateboarding Nun in the New Wolsey Theatre Production of ‘Desperate to be Doris’.
